How do I switch between the teacher portal and the student view?

In your teacher portal, you can access most of the resources that are available to students including research materials and learning modules. However, there is some content that is only available when logged in as a student.

For example, if you set content filters for a Group, you will need to log in as a student in that group to view the filtered content. Also, sections like Class Activities, Announcements and the General Search are only available in student view.

Unfortunately, there is not a way to simply toggle back and forth between teacher and student views. However, we provide an alternative solution.

Within each Group in your teacher portal, we provide you with a teacher passcode. You can use this passcode to log in to the student view without having to use one of your actual student account seats.

However, please note that you cannot be logged in both as a teacher and as a student in the same web browser at the same time. Fortunately, you have two options:

Option 1:

Once you have copied your teacher passcode, simply open up a new web browser so you can keep your teacher portal open while you also look at the student view. For example, if you are using Chrome for your teacher portal, open up FireFox to view as a student.

Option 2:

The other option is to click on your name in the upper right corner of the teacher portal. You'll then see a dropdown menu with a link to 'View as Student'. When you click on this, you will be logged out of your teacher portal and taken directly to the student log in page where you can input your teacher passcode.
